A succinct stay in three Scandinavian cities, including Malmo and Copenhagen - settings for Scandi-crime drama The Bridge, with flights and train transfers

You’ll kick off this Scandi sojourn in Gothenberg - Sweden’s ‘second city’ - where the chic Hotel Riverton offers a decent dose of sleek Scandinavian style. Set in a prime location between the River Göta Älv and lively shopping street Kungsgatan, it’s also a sardine’s throw from the picturesque Haga district with its wooden houses, 19th-century vibe and charming boutiques. There’s a smart restaurant on the 12th floor with amazing harbour and city views, and guests can enjoy complimentary access to the hotel’s relaxation area with sauna and Jacuzzi.

Coming from Sweden’s ‘second city’, you’ll now travel by train to its third - Malmo - for a stay at the centrally located Scandic Malmo City. Visit the 16th-century Malmo Castle, marvel at the sculptured Turning Torso tower block, or take in some contemporary art at Moderna Museet Malmo - there’s plenty to discover here. This multi-cultural jewel was the setting for Scandinavian crime TV series The Bridge, and you’ll follow in the footsteps of Detective Saga Noren next, as you travel by train across the five-mile-long bridge that links Malmo to Copenhagen.

You’ll wind up in Denmark’s delightful capital city for a stay at the friendly, family-run Savoy Hotel, ideally located to discover the Copenhagen's best bits. Make like a local and hop on a bicycle or explore on foot, wandering past picturesque squares and green copper-roofed towers to the fabulous Botanical Gardens. Be sure to take in the National Museum of Denmark and the quirky community of Christiania, packed with unique homes, characterful bars and organic eateries. Up the culinary ante with a visit to Noma, which has been repeatedly named the world’s best restaurant.
